Highlights

  • 225 KM fiber backbone in remote northwestern Alberta

  • Connects Wembley AB to Grande Cache AB

  • 3 year privately funded multi-million dollar investment

  • Unlocks world class fiber connectivity for residents, Oil and Gas and industrial customers in the MD of Greenview No.16 and the County of Grande Prairie.

In 2017 Canadian Fiber Optics started a multi year construction project to build a 225 km self funded fiber backbone in the HW 40 corridor connecting Wembley to Grande Cache Alberta.

Leveraging our in-house construction, Canadian Fiber Optics deployed underground fiber using plowing, trenching and Horizontal Directional Drilling methods in very remote and challenging terrain. Construction included the crossing of over 230 oil and gas pipelines.

Our fiber backbone allows Oil and Gas as well as other industrial clients to connect to the world with Gigabit internet speed connectivity in locations that until now had very limited or expensive connectivity available. In the near future our fiber network will also provide access to world class internet for the residents of the MD of Greenview in Grovedale and Grande Cache.
