Human Resources Generalist

We build and operate fast, reliable fiber networks so rural Canada can thrive, and we are currently looking for a Human Resources Generalist to compliment our growing Team in achieving this.

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Business Enablement, the HR Generalist provides Human Resources support to the CFOC team.  The initial focus will be on recruitment, selection, orientation/onboarding.  The role will shift from recruitment to on-going HR administration and payroll management.  We are looking for someone who wants to grow and develop and is eager to develop new skills and take on new responsibilities as our company grows. 

Key Organisational Responsibilities/Accountabilities

This Role:

  • Recruitment and Selection: developing job descriptions, posting roles, screening applicants, creating offer letters, on-boarding, and on-going HR support for employees.
  • New Employee Orientation/Onboarding: coordinates welcome package, new employee orientation, payroll setup, benefits enrollment, and coordinate with IT, Finance, Payroll for all “start-up” requirements.
  • Maintain and process a variety of confidential records including employee files, payroll changes, resumes, interview notes, reference checks, benefit enrolments etc.  
  • Supports the effective implementation and application of HR policies, reporting and analysis on a monthly basis (including KPIs), programs, and processes; proactively identifies potential challenges, problems and provides innovative solutions. 
  • Support line manager in potential implementation of HR management system that would include close cooperation with a 3rd party Vendor
  • Payroll: collect, calculate, enter and process payroll to a growing number of employees. Validate payroll for accuracy.  Reconcile any payroll disputes. Close payroll edits by deadline.

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree with a focus on Human Resources Management
  • 3 years+ practical experience as an HR Generalist
  • CPHR Designation (Candidate) will be considered an asset
  • Payroll Certification is highly desirable
